A1118 Sovereign Arch-top Jazz Guitar, circa 1938 ....This very rare guitar was made about one year before the Oscar Schmidt Company was sold to Harmony. This was a period when Schmidt was trying to stay afloat by creating instruments that were more in step with "modern" trends in the music world. They even offered a couple of primitive electric guitars! It seems obvious that this particular model was heavily influenced by Gibson's arch-tops such as the L-30 and L-50. Our example is in nearly mint condition, with neither cracks nor playing wear. Original finish is almost scratch free. All birch construction (or possibly maple - some times we find it hard to tell the difference!). It has white/black/white binding both front and back. Bound ebonized hardwood fingerboard with 1 3/4" nut width, 25 1/2" scale, 15 1/2" lower bout. Original bound finger rest. Neck has been reset and action is very comfortable. Comes with a 1930s era hard-shell case. $1095.00    MP3
