A1140 Holzapfel 12-string Guitar ...Made in Baltimore, Maryland circa 1920. Carl C. Holzapfel's 12-strings are highly regarded and are frequently called the "Holy Grail of 12-strings Guitars"! They are consistently very powerful instruments, ranking right up there with the best big bodied Stellas of the same vintage. Early examples such as this guitar are especially highly prized. Our example is in very good original condition, having only two expertly repaired top cracks and one back crack. The top is tight grained spruce; the sides, back and neck are mahogany. Ebony fingerboard and rosewood bridge. Headstock has rosewood overlays front and back. Original tuners are in excellent condition and work perfectly. One of the reasons these instruments have such a powerful sound is Carl C. Holzapfel's use of a modified ladder-bracing design, with lateral braces and two diagonal tone bars. This guitar is 100% original, right down to the three brass screws in the bridge (a peculiarity seen on nearly all Holzapfel 12-strings). Neck has been reset and the action is excellent. And the tone? AMAZING! Comes with a new tweed TKL hard-shell case. $4850.00   Now $3995.00      SOLD    MP3
